Diversity in the market

The more stocks and industries you invest in, the greater your diversification and safety. So beware having your whole portfolio invested in only a handful of stocks. However, if your goal is to beat the market, you have to be careful not to take diversification too far.

If you took diversification to the extreme, you would buy all of the stocks available in the stock markets. You would then obviously achieve returns that would match the market, thereby negating the goal of beating the market.

Repeat customers

Repeat customers are key to healthy cash flow. They generate consistent and predictable sales, so it’s crucial to keep them coming back. One way to help do this is to make sure your products and services remain a match for your customers’ tastes and needs.

Ionizers in air purifiers

Many of the air purifiers that we reviewed include an optional ionizer. In fact, some of our favorite purifiers use ionizers to increase the cleaning power. But what does this technology do? Without confusing you with too much chemistry, oxygen is a neutral element that loves to change its charge. An ionizer uses an electromagnetic charge to add or remove electrons from oxygen atoms, making the oxygen particles either positively or negatively charged as they leave the ionizer.

Ionized particles are far more common in the upper atmosphere, and the air we breathe tends to combine oxygen molecules with several other elements. In theory, after the oxygen passes through the air filter, it detaches from other particles and looks for a new particle to bond with. The ionizer gives the outgoing air an electromagnetic charge so that it will bond with other particles more easily. Then, when the charged ion passes through the air filter a second time, it is easier to capture.

Usage-based insurance is now offered in Canada

Some insurance companies offer a discount on your car insurance if you volunteer to install a piece of technology in your vehicle. It is being referred to as Usage Based Insurance.

This technology monitors the behavior of drivers of your vehicle. Behaviors such as the speed you drive, how quickly you accelerate, how hard you brake as well as the times of day that your vehicle is driven are logged into the device and uploaded to the insurance company.
Depending on the results, you could be eligible for a discount of up to 25%. Not all insurance companies offer this. If you are interested, check with your insurance professional to see if your insurance company offers it.

Financial independence

Financial independence is a term generally used to describe the state of having sufficient personal wealth to live, without having to work actively for basic necessities. For financially independent people, their assets generate income that is greater than their expenses. For example, a person's quarterly expenses may total $4000. They receive dividends from stocks they have previously purchased totaling $5,000 quarterly, while also having more money in other assets. Under these circumstances, a person is financially independent. A person's assets and liabilities are an important factor in determining if they have achieved financial independence. An asset is anything of value that can be liquidated if a person has debt, whereas a liability is related to debt, in that it is the responsibility of one possessing it to provide compensation.

Rich Dad Poor Dad

Rich Dad Poor Dad is a book by Robert Kiyosaki. It advocates financial independence and building wealth through investing, real estate investing, starting and owning businesses, as well as increasing one's financial intelligence. Rich Dad Poor Dad is written in the style of a set of parables, ostensibly based on Kiyosaki's life. Kiyosaki stresses the ownership of high value assets that produces cash flow, rather than being an employee in the book.

Kiyosaki advocated his former mentor and American futurist, Dr. Buckminster Fuller's views on wealth, that wealth is measured by the number of days the income from your assets can sustain you, and financial independence is achieved when your monthly income from assets exceeds your monthly expenses.

Etienne Brule Park

Etienne Brule park is a historically significant piece of land. It was named after Etienne Brule, the first French explorer to venture beyond the St. Lawrence River into Upper Canada (Ontario). The Humber River and its shores along Etienne Brule park were once used as a major trade route by the Aboriginal Peoples of the area. It is a beautiful park stretched out along the Humber River starting near the Old Mill and winding north to the bend in the River around the Baby Point neighbourhood. Within this park you will find interpretive signage with information about the history of the area and it's traditional uses. You will also find a ball diamond, a great hiking trail and lovely spots for a small picnic along the way. Etienne Brule Park is the centre point between the Humber River, Old Mill and Marshes and the Lambton House Hotel and Lower Humber River Discovery Walks.
